Chan W. Galbato currently serves as a Director of Electrical Components International, Inc., and is a Senior Advisor to Barington Capital Group, L.P.
Mr. Galbato retired from Cerberus Capital at the end of 2025, after a 16-year career. He served for 12 years as the Chief Executive Officer of Cerberus Operations and Advisory Company, LLC, the operating platform of the diversified Cerberus Capital Management, a global, private investment company. He oversaw the team of operating executives and functional experts deployed across the portfolio and investment desks to deliver complex and transformational opportunities for long-term, strategic growth and value.
In addition, he served on the Board of Directors of various portfolio companies, including as Co-Chair of public company Albertsons Companies (ACI), one of the largest food and pharmaceutical retailers in the US. Other board leadership positions have included Chairman of publicly-traded Avon Products (AVP), Lead Director of defense contractor DynCorp International, Chairman of YP Holdings, Chairman of NewPage Corp., Chairman of Blue Bird Corporation (BLBD),
Chairman of North American Bus Industries, Chairman of Guilford Mills, and most recently Chairman of NFI Group (NFI). Before joining Cerberus, he was Lead Director of public company Brady Corporation (BRC), a leading manufacturer of safety and identification products.
He previously served as director of FirstKey Homes, KBS Group Holdings, Staples Solutions, Steward Health Care, Tower International (TWR), and AutoWeb (AUTO).
Prior to joining Cerberus in 2009, Mr. Galbato was President and CEO of the Controls Group of businesses for Invensys plc, a global technology company. Prior to his position with Invensys, he served as President of Services and of the commercial distribution arm for The Home Depot; President and Chief Operating Officer of Armstrong Floor Products, a division of Armstrong World Industries; Chief Executive Officer of Choice Parts, a jointventure start-up; and President and Chief Executive Officer of Coregis Insurance Company, a GE Capital Company.
Early in his career, he spent 14 years with General Electric Company, holding several operating and finance leadership positions within their industrial divisions (including Medical Systems, Appliances, Transportation/Locomotive Systems, and Aircraft Engines). Before his business career, he played professional baseball with the Montreal Expos in their minor league system.
Mr. Galbato holds an M.B.A. degree from the University of Chicago and a B.A. degree in Economics from the State University of New York.
