Dan W. McGrew, 61, has a proven track record of implementing Lean to improve shareholder value, including his tenure at Velvac starting in 2013, first serving as Vice President of Operations and then as Chief Operating Officer. He led Velvac’s Lean transformation in the manufacturing facility in Reynosa, Mexico, and the Aftermarket parts business in New Berlin, Wisconsin, with support from the Lean Enterprise Institute and Shingo-certified consultants.
In his previous assignment, Dan was the Director of Mexican Operations for Esselte Corporation with production facilities in Reynosa, Matamoros, and Mexico City, as well as multiple cross-border warehouses and inventory management responsibility of finished goods warehouses in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Esselte’s Chairman, CEO, and Senior Leadership Team were former Wiremold employees who supported the Esselte Lean transformation by providing Consultants from Shingijutsu and Moffit Associates.
Starting in 1981, Dan’s career doing business in Mexico and the US has spanned 5 decades, and he has experience in all facets of operating international businesses in the NAFTA region. He was on the Board of Directors for INDEX Reynosa, the local Maquiladora Association, for over 15 years, including three as President and served four years as Vice President on the Board of Directors of CNIMME, the national Maquiladora Association, whose member companies employ over 2 million workers. His education includes a BS degree in Business Management from the University of Pittsburgh and graduate studies at Duquesne University.
